IT Management Models

Models as I like to call it has been in development for three years. It is a unique book containing seventy-two (72) models to help managers learn about, relate to, and discuss management concepts and issues easily.

Who is Models intended for ?

What is a model?
Good question. A model starts with a picture or simple graphic used to depict a specific management principle or issue. There are 72 models in the book. Each model has a unique graphic, a brief description, and bullet points that highlight key points of the model. In addition, there is a full page description that discusses the model and each of the key points.

Models are grouped into six management discipline categories. The book is organized so you may learn the models one by one or focus in on a specific management discipline and learn about that discipline. The management discipline categories are:
      1. IT Assessment
      2. Strategy and Planning
      3. Project Management and Process
      4. Organization and Staff
      5. Financial Management
      6. Measurements and Communication

The models cover a complete overview of the requirements of an IT manager, delve into specifics of project management, and always focus on issues that are related to information technology.

Tell me more about the management discipline categories.

The management discipline categories are taken from my proprietary IT Management Process. It's a logical process used when assuming responsibility for a new IT organization. It's also the approach used in teaching my 5-day IT Manager Institute that's held twice a year at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Each model represents a management principle or set of concepts. Depending on the context of the model, they are assigned to one or more of the management discipline categories. The models are presented within the categories in a logical sequence of how you would want to learn the models as you go about learning about that particular management discipline, or category.
